ROCKET AWARDS

Each year the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) hosts “Rocket” - a competition for Ontario’s graduating industrial designers. Graduates nominated at the top of their class from OCAD University, Carleton University, and Humber College have the opportunity to pitch their thesis projects to a jury of select industry professionals who will determine winners across five categories. Category winners, along with the overall Rocket winner, will be announced at Rocket during the Awards Ceremony.

While recogniction is nice, it's often exposure that matters most to designers just setting out. This year we're excited to work with partners like the Design Exchange and MISC Magazine to make sure emerging talent gets the spotlight it deserves.

ROCKET FINALISTS

A shortlist of 25 finalists will be invited to exhibit their thesis project at Rocket and have their work viewed by industry professionals and the broader design community. Submissions will also be showcased on the Rocket website for up to a year.

CATEGORY AWARDS

Each category winner will be awarded a cash prize of $200 along with the coveted Rocket Awards trophy as pictured above. Category winners will also have their work showcased in the Design Exchange exhibition Exploring the Creative Process on display in the main lobby and open to the general public.

ROCKET AWARD

The coveted Rocket Award recognizes the top in show and will be awarded a cash prize of $1000. In addition to the category awards, the Rocket Winner will receive one class with Learn Space TO to bring their product to life through Dynamic Products animation or add 3D modeling program MODO to their skill set. The Rocket Winner will also be featured on the MISC website discussing their biggest influences and details of their creative process.
